Ejemplo de una Literature Review

En esta breve presentación voy a hablar de una reseña bibliográfica que escribí para un artículo de revista y explicar además cómo hacer el artículo con algunas de sus características.

El artículo titula discusiones sobre las perspectivas de la profesión de comunicación técnica desde la blogosfera, fue un trabajo para analizar el contenido de los blogs y mostrar cómo reflejaban las preocupaciones de los profesionales en relación con los temas de profesionalización como se describe en la literatura.

La revisión de la literatura se centró en la profesionalización y ese fue el área en la que quería proporcionar el contexto e información de fondo sobre este artículo publicado para que pueda echar un vistazo a la revisión de la literatura con un poco más de detalle y se pueda ver cómo encaja en el artículo.

Entonces, el artículo comienza con un resumen seguido de una introducción y luego se ve la revisión de la literatura en la segunda página.

El propósito de una revisión de la literatura es proporcionar una visión general de la investigación que se ha realizado en un campo para generar una mejor comprensión del campo y demostrar esa comprensión y decidir qué métodos podrían usar, pero también se hizo cosas como ayudar al lector a comprender cuáles son los temas principales que se ha escrito en ese campo, qué historias similares se han llevado a cabo y cómo se han llevado a cabo y si ha habido un gap de investigación identificado.

La revisión de la literatura comienza definiendo un término clave que es profesión y luego también dando la definición académica de profesiones. Luego se continúa hablando de algunos temas principales que surgen especialmente relevantes y otros temas como la capacitación y la educación, seguidos por el estatus y el valor, y también las instituciones profesionales, y finalmente las profesiones en la era de la información.

Hay ciertos requisitos de una revisión de la literatura como incluir referencias a hechos relacionados, aquí puedes ver referencias a estudios que son relevantes; hay textos más antiguos o clásicos por ejemplo Flexner es un pensador muy conocido en el campo de las profesiones y la profesionalización, pero algunos de ellos son dos textos más nuevos como cuando me refiero a profesiones en el objetivo de la era de la información como Lewis Kaufhold y Lsorsa y Bauer.

El estilo de redacción es formal y académico y utiliza un sistema de referencia que es similar al sistema que usamos en la Universidad de Limerick, por lo que usamos el sistema de Harvard y este es un sistema de fecha de nombre similar al sistema que se usa para este artículo donde para el escritor se hace referencia a cualquier autor y se usa el número de página de la fuente.

Cualquier idea que no fuera de quien escribe tenía que ser referenciada en esta revisión de la literatura, y ese es un punto realmente importante para asegurar de proporcionar referencias.

También se debe incluir palabras de transición para mostrar las conexiones entre las ideas.

Otra característica clave del estilo de escritura es señalar historia para cada nueva sección a medida que aparece, por lo que uno está dirigiéndose al lector hacia la siguiente sección y también le está diciendo por qué estos temas son relevantes para su área de estudio; por ejemplo, al final de mi revisión de la literatura incluyo una frase como:

“Los comunicadores técnicos, dado su papel como productores de contenidos, deben ser operadores clave en esta netocracia” y eso pasa al apartado de metodología que viene a continuación.

Finalmente, todas las revisiones de la literatura deben incluir una lista de referencias y esta lista de referencias debe coincidir exactamente con las referencias que ha incluido en la revisión de la lista; por lo tanto, cada referencia que de mostrar consistentemente de acuerdo con el sistema o norma usada.

In this short presentation I’m going to tell you about a literature review that I wrote for a journal article and I’m going to explain how it fits into the article and some of its features.

So, the article is called discussions about the technical communication profession perspectives from the blogosphere, and this was an article where I analyzed the content of blogs and tried to show how they reflected practitioners’ concerns relation to the themes of professionalization as outlined in the literature.

So, my literature review was concerned with professionalization and that was the area that I wanted to provide context and background information on this article was published in the technical communication drawing outline so that you can have a look at the literature review in a little bit more detail and you can see how it fits into the overall article

So, the article begins with an abstract followed by an introduction and then you can see the literature review on the second page.

You remember from the lecture that we said the purpose of a literature review is to provide an overview of research that has been done in a field to give the research or a better understanding of the field to demonstrate that understanding and to decide what methods they might use, but it also does certain things such as help the reader to understand what the main themes are who has written about the field, what similar stories have been conducted, how they’ve been conducted and whether there’s been a research gap that has been identified.

So, my literature review here begins by defining a key term which is profession and then also giving the academic definition of professions. I then go on to talk about a few main themes that emerge and they’re especially relevant to my story and those themes are training and education, followed by status and value and also professional institutions, and finally professions in the information age.

You remember from the lecture that we mentioned that there are certain requirements of a literature review so it must include references to related stories, here you can see references to studies that are relevant to what I’m referring to some of them are to older or classic texts for example Flexner is a well-known thinker in the field of professions and professionalization, but some of them are two newer texts such as when I’m referring to professions in the aim of information age where I refer to Lewis Kaufhold and Lsorsa and Bauer.

The writing style in this literature review is formal and academic and it uses a referencing system that’s similar to the system we use in University of Limerick, so we use the Harvard system and this is a name date system similar to the system that’s used for this article where for the writer any author is referred to the year is given and for direct quotes the page number is also provided

Any idea that was not my own had to be referenced in this literature review, and that’s a really important point for you that you make sure to provide references if you’re unsure about whether to include a reference include it just to be on the safe side.

You also need to include transition words to show connections between ideas.

Let me show you some transition where it’s used in this paragraph on professions in the information age so it begins with an opening topic sentence, the next the transfers transition where it is although which indicates some opposition; more recently is the next transition so it indicates some kind of development of thought the even the worried these can be a transition word because it’s showing that you’re linking this sentence to previous kept concept mentioned in the previous sentence, so you can see these kinds of words others include however in addition to and so on.

These show a development of ideas, and they make your writing more fluent.

Another key feature of the writing style is that you signpost your story and you signpost each new section as it comes along so you’re directing the reader towards the next section and you’re also telling them about why these topics are relevant to your area of study; for example, at the end of my literature review I include a sentence that says:

“Technical communicators, given their role as content producers, should be key operators in this netocracy” and that moves into the methodology section which comes next.

Finally, all literature reviews must include a list of references and this list of references must match exactly the references that you’ve included in the list review; so, every reference that you mentioned is listed consistently according to the Harvard system.

You list them in alphabetical order rather than in the order in which they were mentioned in the text.
